This course was great. I loved reading about the different digital tools that were available. There were a bunch I used that gave me more confidence in my teaching. There were so many more that I can adapt into my room. Something I posted about constantly was using Nearpod. My love for it has grown even more with this class because of its inclusion of so many engaging things like 3d visuals, virtual field trips, VR Videos, and more.
I really enjoyed learning about LoTi and how-to bring things more meaning and real-world application. I think knowing this helps answer the question of when I will ever use this. Well, if I design classwork that is applied immediately the answer is NOW! I also got a lot from the Engaged Learning Indicators. So many times, we hear the students need to be engaged, they need to be engaged. Well, I never really knew how to truly know. I would just look and if they were working, I said, "Yep they are engaged." There are many indicators. A student could be working just because it is an assignment and not be truly engaged.
The only question I have is how to apply these. I want to go fast in implanting them but need to pace myself. Covid also must play a part as I don't want to do too much with the risk of school closing again. I want to find engaging ways to do things online that if we go virtual again the students will still enjoy and learn from. This is a class that anyone that is an education major should take. Not just higher degrees!
