Artifact: ITEC 7410 Structured Log
Reflection:
I wrote this reflection on the structured log in ITEC 7410, Instructional Technology Leadership. This log included three activities that I completed: SWOT Analysis, Shared Vision paper, and Action/Evaluation Plan. Each activity included in the fifteen hours of field experience had input from other stakeholders, including my Principal, Academic Facilitator, and peers.
The artifact explains how I demonstrated the ability to engage in field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions. For each field experience, I had to apply the knowledge and skills learned in ITEC 7410. After logging the hours spent on the field experiences, I reflected on three questions: what I learned about technology facilitation and leadership, how the learning related to the knowledge, skills, and disposition of a technology leader, and the impact on school improvement, faculty, development, or student learning.
I learned that I want to be in a position where these activities are done. I enjoyed diving into the data and seeing the strengths and opportunities and how we can improve to reach our goals during these field experiences. Throughout ITEC 7410, I spoke to my Principal, and she was amazed at the type of analysis I did and how I modeled it all on Teasley Middle School and not an unknown school. If I could change something, I would like to have had this reflection be reflection completed. I believe the same purpose would be met, and the portfolio would be easier to complete.
The field experiences in this log impacted my school and faculty and will eventually impact the whole school. My Principal asked for permission to share my SWOT as a resource during the Root Cause Analysis and writing the SIP. My shared vision for technology was also requested to be incorporated into the SIP. I felt very appreciated being asked for these things. I was promoted to the department chair in the current school year, and I connect this accomplishment to the skills learned in this log's field experiences.
