Classroom 1
,This classroom is an ELA classroom in the 7th grade. The purpose of the learning space is to drive curiosity and engagement in reading and writing. It is decorated so that students relate to many of the more recent popular books and fictional worlds. I chose this room for its uniqueness. This classroom off students the ability to easily pick up a book and start reading. The desk arrangement has room that invites curiosity towards her bookshelves. For the teacher, I believe it helps her get around the room and group students, but I believe it provides a very comfortable environment where she feels less stress.
- Desks grouped for small group instruction and independent working
- LED lighting around room allows for low light
- Walk spaces for students to move to book shelves
- Teacher has desk in from corner to see room and a work space in the front of the room when walking around
- Multiple whiteboards with instructions and standards so easily read on both sides of the room
- ADA desk with clear path to it for handicapped student in wheelchair
Classroom 2
The second room is a Math room in 7th Grade. I absolutely love this room. So much so that if I taught math it would be almost identical with very little changes. The main focal point of this room is creating a 360 classroom. This allows the teacher to monitor and assess student work in real time immediately. The students walk into a unique environment. Completely different than almost any classroom they have ever been. This instantly drives up curiosity. The seats are different, the tables, the lighting, and more.
- White boards are around the perimeter of the room
- Seating is easily moved
- Desk are arranged for small groups
- High top tables near window for independent time
- LED Lighting allows to dim lighting
- Window that allows natural light
Classroom 3
This 3rd classroom is a newly formed Agricultural class in connections. This room was just so unique and well designed to meet the subject I had to pick it. The number one goal for this class is to stem curiosity and interest in an Agricultural path in high school and college. Each part of the room has to do with a different topic and it is designed to look like it would it the real world. Even walking into the room you smell that what class it is. Not that it stinks, but instead smells of nature. I will say I think it could be sensory overload for some. Teachers and students immediate reaction is wow!
- Decorations in the room set the theme and engage students
- Desk in groups to allow ample space for moving in the room
- Teacher desk located in corner to keep space open
- White boards and smart board in room to allow multiple areas for displaying information
- Tiled floor for easy clean up of spills
- Desk tops covered with easy clean up topping
